Services
We're a family-run company, with 20 years' experience specialising in the manufacture and installation of handcrafted bespoke secondary glazing for listed, classic and historic properties all over the UK.
Our talented team of craftmen manufacture each individual product and we are able to make units which are out-of-square, shaped, arched or curved, and suitable for many different types of windows, including sash, casement and York sliders.
We aim to continue to evolve secondary glazing to be an integral part of your historic property whilst conserving the character of your home.
Storm's secondary glazing is a custom-made system which allows an internal single-glazed unit to be installed behind your primary window.
It has been designed for older properties to complement the primary window where appearance plays an important role and authenticity is essential.
Our glazing significantly improves thermal efficiency and prevents draughts, turning older buildings into warmer, more comfortable, usable properties.
Planning and listed building regulations restrict what can be done to older properties, and our system has been designed to make the glazing virtually invisible - both internally and externally.
An ideal solution for windows that do not require regular ventilation, or are only used during summer months.
This system can be used on a variety of primary window styles where it can be installed into the reveal or inset into the staff beads of a sash window to enable the retention of working internal shutters, which is often a requirement of conservation officers.
By adapting our slimline unit we are able to face fix them to provide a solution for French doors and fanlights.
Our slim, lightweight framework can be powdercoated to any RAL, BS number or wood effect finish to complement your existing decor and provide you with an aesthetically-pleasing result, which is practically invisible both internally and externally.
Our lower vertical sliding sash unit is an ideal solution for original sash windows which require regular access or ventilation.
The glazing unit allows the lower pane to be opened, whilst the upper pane remains fixed in place.
The unit can be mounted within the staff beads of a sash window enabling the retention of working internal shutters.
The unit is held in place using our magnetic system and is easily removable for cleaning and maintenance purposes.
All secondary glazing sight lines will be matched up with your existing glazing bars to ensure that your windows retain their period features without being compromised - a priority when preserving the character of your historic property whilst improving the thermal efficiency.
Storm's engineering background has enabled us to push the boundaries of secondary glazing manufacture, and create secondary glazing which accommodates primary windows of almost any shape.
Our surveyors carry out extremely accurate measuring to very tight tolerances and create templates for our production department to use during the manufacture of the shaped units.
As all of our secondary glazing is made using our hand-crafted techniques and fabricated using aluminium section, we are able to manipulate our materials to follow the lines of the primary window.
