Services
At Rocburn we are involved in hundreds of projects each year.
On these pages we will provide various case studies for some of the projects we have dealt with.
This is a small single zone smoke vent system installed in the stairwell of some apartments in Aldershot.
The windows were not wide enough to use the standard fitting style of the chain actuators, so we worked with the installer to offer a Jamb mounted solution to suit.
This job required a sleek modern window openers that would work fit on traditional oak window frames.
Rocburn were chosen to supply the electric window opener equipment to be installed as part of a new build apartment building.
This job required a powerful window opener that would work on side hung windows.
The Kato 305 openers we supplied are chain actuators with an adjustable stroke (max 500mm), 30kg pushing force with neat slim-line metal bodies.
This is one of the many projects we have supplied electric window openers and actuator equipment for.

A customer came to us with a particular problem, he wanted to achieve better natural ventilation in his conservatory which had rooflights.
He wanted to install some sort of traditional manual window opener but wouldn't know what would work as there where no visible frame on the windows themselves.
The customers aim was to achieve better natural ventilation within his conservatory.
He had existing timber conservatory roof vents but they had no frame that was visible and available for an opener to push against so was struggling to find a solution that would work for him.
Rocburn were chosen to supply the smoke ventilation equipment to be installed as part of renovation works for The Balmoral Hotel, Harrogate.
This was to renovate AOV systems to bring them up to current standards.
This job consisted of 1 stair core ventilated by a 1mtr square smoke ventilation pitched velux rooflight, with lobbies on the Ground, 1st 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors.
Each lobby had a damper and grille fitted to ventilate smoke into an assigned smoke shaft.
The control panel was wired back to an addressable fire alarm, which would trigger on smoke to open the damper on the fire floor along with the related skylight.
Approved Document B: Fire Safety sets out the regulations for providing a safe means of warning escape in the event of a fire.
Simultaneous opening of vents on the storey where the fire is located, at the top of the smoke shaft and to the stair.
Vents from the corridors or lobbies on all other storeys should remain closed, even if smoke is subsequently detected on storeys other than where the fire is located.'.
The main paragraph that has been clarified is the required criteria for what should happen to ventilate the building if the smoke spreads into a different area, after the initial activation of the smoke vents in the affected corridor and stairwell.
