Gable, or Gable End conservatories date back to the Georgian times. They are normally rectangular or square and these two shapes provide you with maximum floor space. A P-shape conservatory is better suited to larger detached homes.

In early days they were used for growing citrus trees in a controlled environment. Over the years the differences have become less and less. Basically an orangery tends to have more brickwork and less glass than a conservatory, whereas a conservatory is mainly made from glass, is normally constructed from uPVC and will have a full glass roof. Conservatories will nearly always have a sloped or angled roof, but an orangery roof will be flat.

The fascia board is mounted at the place where the outer walls of the house meet the roof. It's a long straight board that runs along the lower edge of the roof and usually does the job of supporting the bottom row of tiles. The fascia will also support the house's guttering. One of the main purposes of the fascia is to cover fittings and make sure that they are waterproof and protected from rain.

The regulations are known as "Document L" (Document J in Scotland) and they set energy efficiency targets that reduce heat loss from frames and glass to help Great Britain meet its commitment to reduce green house gases under the Kyoto accord. To ensure that you fit replacement windows that meet these new standards, the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) and other industry bodies, with government encouragement, have set up FENSA - the Fenestration Self-Assessment scheme.

So happy with our windows and doors. The price was great too.
From the start Lisa Richardson was so helpful as was Paul who came to put home to see exactly what we needed. Rob and Crystal fitted everything in two days and left our house tidier than it was to start with. Great service

After having a replacement set of doors because the first ones didn’t fit well, we are now having to have them out again (2nd time) to try and sort out the problem with not locking properly. Avoid this company
