We offer a wide range of aluminium systems for glass roofs for small and large projects. Toughened or laminated safety glasses MUST be specified for overhead glazing. Toughened glass is heat treated so that when broken it shatters into tiny small dice that even if they fall are so small they are unlikely to cause injury. However, it does make less mess and should not be fitted over swimming pools or food preparation areas as can be very difficult to ensure recovery of every fragment.

read more › Glass roofs come in many shapes and forms from a small flat rooflight on a typical home extension to a large roof glazing structure on a major shopping centre or train station. A rebated timber rafter is the most basic of methods where the glass is usually seated on a glazing tape and then a continuous wooden capping with mastic tapes clamps the glass in place and keeps the water out. This used to be a popular method in Victorian times and still sometimes see today even on high-end timber conservatories, but it is not a satisfactory method and leaks often occur due to movement in the timber.

Heat soaked tested toughened glass is used for maximum strength and laminated glass inner pane is available to order if required. Non-fragile rooflights are available by using upgraded glass in accordance with CWCT TN92 non-fragility recommendations. A range of fixed glass rooflights in various shapes and sizes are available, so don't be limited to square or rectangular shapes!

Please refer to the Maintenance Check List at the end of this document which should be photocopied and used as a record of inspections. If it is known that the environment may be aggressive, such as a chemical factory, marine environment, polluted or similar, the intervals should be increased to quarterly or six monthly inspections depending upon the severity of the problem.
